Ecuador, green country where Pacha Mama is worshiped
This is where our big trip around the world started. This is where we studied Spanish. We were already in love with this continent but Ecuador has grabbed us strongly by heart and didn’t let go. Our top experience of South America and probably of our whole life was to observe the life of animals that are not afraid of humans in Galapagos.
Our first solo multiday hike in high altitude happened in Ecuador. Quilotoa loop 3 day trek served as an introduction to overnight trek and since then we are hooked. Jungle like cloudy mountains of Mindo are a wonderful weekend gateway if you are spending too much time in busy colonial Quito.
If you feel like history, stroll down to Cuenca and nearby Ingapirca . Colonial Cuenca is quickly becoming very popular with expats wanting to settle down in South America.
Maybe small in area but Ecuador has beaches, mountains, volcanoes, great cuisine.. Most importantly gentle and friendly people who care about the nature and their environment. Ecuador is the cleanest of the whole South America and every other country should take an example from them.
